Career Guidance
The Career Guidance teacher, Ms Scarff is timetabled for one period of career guidance weekly with all senior students. She also sees all senior cycle pupils on an individual basis during fifth and sixth year to assist them with career choices and inform them of all the available courses in their area of interest. She guides them through the CAO applications process very carefully.
Transition year students are timetabled for one period a week of career guidance. Ms Scarff will assist them applying for work experience as well as provide a range of information about career choices. In the spring Ttansition Year students will sit their ‘DATS’ tests to help give them some indication of their aptitudes. Ms Scarff will also discuss subject choices with the students both collectively and individually if necessary.
There will be information meetings for parents of both Rising Form Five students and rising Transition Year students in Spring 2011. The dates are on the official School calendar. The calendar is in the Information section of this website.
Other forms will have classes in study skills at various intervals during the academic year.
